Thursday 20th April 2017

This morning, we continue our Daily Devotions looking at the power of the resurrection and the benefits of the resurrection in our lives at Christians.

The resurrection, proves that God loves us unconditionally and wants us to show that same love towards others.

John 3 v 16 – 17

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.

John 13 v 34 – 35

A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.

It was love that motivated God to send His Son to die on the cross and conquer sin and death.

I was taught the song “Jesus Loves Me” as a young child: “Jesus loves me, this I know …” Even if you didn’t grow up in a church, you probably know how it ends: “… for the Bible tells me so.”

If you’ve spent any time in church, you’ve heard expressed, in some form or another, the idea that God loves us. I believed this for years because, as the song puts it, “the Bible tells me so.” The only problem is that it was a concept I was taught, not something I implicitly knew to be true. For years I “got” God’s love in my head, checked the right answer on the “what God is like” test, but didn’t fully understand it with my heart.

We need to understand with our hearts and experience God’s love in our lives to fully grasp the depths of His incredible love.

That same love then needs to flow from us to others. Here are ten ways to love, Jesus’ way:

  • Listen
  • Respect
  • Give
  • Protect
  • Trust
  • Pray
  • Share
  • Forgive
  • Enjoy
  • Persevere

Have a great day!
