2 Timothy 2:20-22 20 In a wealthy home some utensils are made of gold and silver, and some are made of wood and clay. The expensive utensils are used for special occasions, and the cheap ones are for everyday use. 21 If you keep yourself pure, you will be a special utensil for honorable use. Your life will be clean, and you will be ready for the Master to use you for every good work.
22 Run from anything that stimulates youthful lusts. Instead, pursue righteous living, faithfulness, love, and peace. Enjoy the companionship of those who call on the Lord with pure hearts.
On Sunday, Ian Kemble from the Brentwood Schools Christian Workers Trust, showed us a photo of the people who originally had the vision to serve Brentwood Schools. It really stood out to me as a illustration of what God can do through people who pray, listen and then do what God tells them to do.
In the passage today we read that all believers in Christ have the potential to be special utensils for the master (God) to use. God has purpose and call over your life!
Paul doesn’t just encourage Timothy and all believers in their call and purpose. If you read the wider context, he also warns about some of the things that keep believers from moving into everything that God intends them to be…. Youthful lusts, quarrelsome talk, godless behaviour, ignorant arguments, fighting with words…
Come to the cross of Jesus Christ and repent of any of the behaviours that Paul warns about in 2 Timothy 2
Seek God about His call and purpose for your life. What does God have in store for you, His special utensil.. Pray, listen and do!
Surround yourself with those who call on the Lord with pure hearts (v.22)
