This morning we continue our devotions around sharing your faith.
1 Peter 3 v 15 – 16
But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect, keeping a clear conscience, so that those who speak maliciously against your good behavior in Christ may be ashamed of their slander.
The Apostle Peter speaks to the Early Church in one of his letters and encourages them to be prepared. It is obvious from Peter’s comments that if we live the Christian life right, people around us will be drawn to the hope we have.
Today the first challenge is to ask ourselves, do people know I have hope? Are people drawn to the hope they see in me? Peter exhorts his readers to be prepared to give a reason for their hope.
The second challenge of the day is, are we ready to give an account for our faith? When someone asks us why we do what we do, do we talk to them about our Christian faith? Do we point them to Jesus?
The last part of Peter’s challenge is to share our faith with gentleness and respect. So often talk about religion can end in an argument but with us it should be different. As we talk about Jesus, gentleness and respect should shine through.
