This morning, we continue our daily devotions looking at what it means to be a Spirit Filled Church.
Ephesians 2 v 19 – 22
Consequently, you are no longer foreigners and strangers, but fellow citizens with God’s people and also members of his household, built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus himself as the chief cornerstone. In him the whole building is joined together and rises to become a holy temple in the Lord. And in him you too are being built together to become a dwelling in which God lives by his Spirit.
A Spirit-Filled Church Is A Place Where Sin Is Uncomfortable
The spiritual vibrancy of a church is a reflection of the spiritual vibrancy of its members. Spirit-filled churches are always marked by personal holiness. The truth is that the Holy Spirit DOES NOT accommodate sin.
The Apostle Paul here talks about our individual lives being joined together and being a place where God dwells. It is not the building where God lives but in us. Paul describes our lives as “holy temples”. It is our responsibility to keep the place where God lives clean.
Prayer – Dear Heavenly Father we know that sin can so easily destroy us and grieve your Holy Spirit. As a Church we want to be spirit filled. Help us not to accommodate sin but instead live in union with you. Please forgive us for those times we have given in to sin and help us to love your presence in our lives. Amen
Have a great day!
