Father to the fatherless, defender of widows— this is God, whose dwelling is holy.
God places the lonely in families; he sets the prisoners free and gives them joy.
Yesterday we spend some time just rejoicing and letting gladness rise within us.
David moves from this call to praise to reflect on the God who we are praising and his first reflection of God is as one who is
A father…. to the fatherless
A defender… of the widow
A God who places the lonely…. In families
Who sets the one in prison…. free
THIS IS GOD
At the very heart of God is care, love and hope for those who are marginalized. One of the ways to honour God and the name of the Lord is to love and serve the marginalized, widows and orphans, the lonely, the homeless and those in prison.
How do you reach the marginalized?
How can you grow in this area?
Do you feel compassion to those who are marginalized?
Ask God to grow that compassion in you, to break down prejudices and judgement.
