Welcome to our Daily Devotions at Sawyers Church for this coming week. We have started a new series this Sunday called “What did Jesus say about…?” Yesterday we looked at what Jesus said about truth and our Daily Devotions continue along that theme. Over the course of the week we are going to look at eleven statements of truth and how they are backed up by the Bible which is God breathed.
Here are the first two:
1. I recognize that there is only one true and living God who exists as the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. He is worthy of all honour, praise and glory as the One who made all things and holds all things together.
“I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery. “You shall have no other gods before me.
For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and for him. He is before all things, and in him all things hold together.
2. I recognize Jesus Christ as the Messiah, the Word who became flesh and dwelt among us. I believe that He came to destroy the works of the devil and that He disarmed the rulers and authorities and made a public display of them, having triumphed over them.
John 1:1, 14
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God……….The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.
And having disarmed the powers and authorities, he made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross.
1 John 3:8
The one who does what is sinful is of the devil, because the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the devil’s work
PRAISE GOD FOR THE TRUTH OF HIS WORD – write these passages down and meditate on them – there is only one God and His Word has been made known to us through Jesus who conquered the devil on the cross – Hallelujah what a Saviour!
