Friday 7th July 2017

Our statements of truth continue this morning with their supporting scriptures:

9. By faith, I choose to be filled with the Spirit so that I can be guided into all truth. I choose to walk by the Spirit so that I will not carry out the desires of the flesh.

John 16:13

But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come.

Galatians 5:16

So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh.

Ephesians 5:18

So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh.

10. I renounce all selfish goals and choose the ultimate goal of love. I choose to obey the two greatest commandments: to love the Lord my God with all my heart, soul, mind and strength and to love my neighbour as myself.

Matthew 22:37-39

Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’

1 Timothy 1:5

The goal of this command is love, which comes from a pure heart and a good conscience and a sincere faith.

The Bible encourages us to be filled with the Holy Spirit on a daily basis – it is a choice that we make by faith. God measures the success of our lives by how much we love Him and love our neighbour (The theme of this Sunday’s message – “What did Jesus say about your neighbour?)

Have a great day!
