Hard work.

At the moment I am in the middle of building a single story extension on our house and I have just finished laying the foundation. I have done some jobs in my time but wow, this was hard graft down in a muddy ditch digging a huge hole for 7-10 hours a day in the rain and horrible weather.

The key to carrying on every day and every hour was to rest and to take time out even when I felt like I just need to keep on digging. It would be no good to work for 24 hours the 1st day, do half the job but be so wrecked that I could not carry on the day after and finish the job. The same is true with sharing our faith, healing the sick, praying for people and being a witness to Christ. We need to build times of godly rest into our days, weeks, months and years.

A great bible verse that helps me is Luke 5.16

15But despite Jesus’ instructions, the report of his power spread even faster, and vast crowds came to hear him preach and to be healed of their diseases. 16But Jesus often withdrew to the wilderness for prayer.

We see here that in busy times even Jesus, the Son of God took time out, not to escape or have a rest from God but actually to be refreshed in God’s presence. Today make time for God to refresh you. Turn the TV off, get your Bible out and spend time with God.
