|It’s Friday, the end of the working week, the weekends nearly here. So I thought I’d help you end your week well because the Bible says that we are to work for the Lord with all our heart!
Nehemiah 4:6 (NIV)
6 So we rebuilt the wall till all of it reached half its height, for the people worked with all their heart.
Colossians 3:23 (NIV)
23 Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters,
Our work is our witness, and we’re to work in all things as we’re doing it for God. That’s hard when we’re tired, when we’re under pressure, when we’re overextended.
If you read the context of our Nehemiah verse you see that he and the people worked hard. But they did so because they understood their purpose. They understood that what they were doing was for the Lord. Nehemiah was acting in obedience and he’d formed a band of people who were willing to join with him. What I love about this is that God gave Nehemiah the grace, the wisdom, the ability to build a wall. It’s something that he’d not done before, but he did it not to do it for himself but to do it for the Lord
The verse in Colossians says we should have the same attitude
How can you work with all your heart?
What does it look like to work as for the Lord, not for yourself?
