Yesterday morning, Ben Carman spoke about our relationship with the media as Christians. He spoke from the following passage from Romans 12 v 1 – 2

Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.

Ben spoke about how the TV, Computers, Mobile Phones and other forms of media can hinder our minds being renewed by the Word of God. He challenged us to spend less time in front of a TV Screen and more time in the presence of God.

This week, we are going to look at six things God might want to say to us as we accept this challenge.

The first thing that God might want to say is – “You Belong to Me”

1 Corinthians 6 v 19 – 20

Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies.

This morning, rejoice with me that you belong to God. He lives in you and you are precious to Him. On Saturday evening, we had an auction raising money for “Building for the Future”. Some people paid a high price for certain items – because of the price paid those items are precious to them. They will cherish that piece of jewellery, that watch or in the case of my children that bottle of sweets. We know that we are precious to God because He sent His Son to give His life for us by dying on the cross – it was a huge cost that God was willing to pay because of His great love for you.

As you spend time in His presence today, be encouraged by these verses and commit yourself afresh to honor Him.

Have a good day!
