Colossians 1 v 9 – 14
For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you. We continually ask God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all the wisdom and understanding that the Spirit gives, so that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God, being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience, and giving joyful thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of his holy people in the kingdom of light. For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.
This week in our devotions we are looking at the benefits of knowing God and His plan for our lives.
The second benefit is that we are always growing in our Knowledge and experience of Him.
Our relationship with the amazing knowable God grows.
If each one of us is able only to grasp a small part of how amazing God is, then we have two options: we can shrink God so that our small bit is all that He is, and thereby create a miniature God, or we can gather with others and share all our little bits of God.
It is in community and church that each of us gets a glimpse of the almighty God. As we each experience God and share that with one another, we start to build a bigger picture. This moves us on to a stage where we have left our own miniature gods and are able to envision a bigger, corporate God, but it still isn’t the whole picture.
AW Tozer beautifully puts it, “The heaviest obligation lying upon the Christian church today is to purify and elevate her concept of God.”
Have a great day and you grow in your relationship with God.
