Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting. Ps 139:23-24
For the remainder of this week I want to use these devotions as an opportunity for us to reflect back and look ahead. The new year gives a good opportunity to come before God and ask him to mould us more into his likeness so over the next few days I’m going to share a few scriptures and a few questions that I’d really encourage you to think upon, pray through and seek God over.
1 John 2:6
The one who says he abides in Him ought himself to walk in the same manner as He walked.
A prayer: Almighty God, you are my maker, you know me through and through, better than I know myself. Thank you for your amazing love for me, for giving me life and purpose, a future and a hope. You have seen every step of my journey along the way: my triumphs and trials, laughter and tears. As I pause to check my bearings, please give me insight and honesty, Let me hear your voice calling me anew. Almighty God, my Friend and Guide, draw me closer to you. Amen
So let’s start today by reflecting back:
When and how did you become a Christian?
What did your faith mean to you in the early days / years?
As we journey through these questions this week, please do take the time to think upon them. On the whole they are self-reflective but it could also be helpful to share some of your answers with others in order to encourage one another.
