Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving. Colossians 3:23-24
Life is full of competing priorities. Yet the Bible is clear that every part of our life is worship to God:
I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all he has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice—the kind he will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship him]2 Don’t copy the behaviour and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect. Rom 12:1-3
Today we’re going to think about other areas of life, the pulls upon our time. I’ve put these under home, friends and occupation.
Home How settled is your home life? Are there any aspects you would like to be different?
Who are your closest friends? In what ways do your friendships help or hinder your relationship with God?
What is your occupation (your main activity which is not leisure or a hobby)? Are you satisfied with your occupation?
How does your faith affect your occupation?
Spend some time praying over these areas and for the other people involved: family members, friends, colleagues and associates. Where and how would you like to see God breakthrough in these areas?
