At the end of our Week of Prayer I was led to these verses in Philippians.
Paul and Timothy, servants of Christ Jesus,
To all God’s holy people in Christ Jesus at Philippi, together with the overseers and deacons:
Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
Thanksgiving and Prayer
I thank my God every time I remember you. In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now, being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.
It is right for me to feel this way about all of you, since I have you in my heart and, whether I am in chains or defending and confirming the gospel, all of you share in God’s grace with me. God can testify how I long for all of you with the affection of Christ Jesus.
And this is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, so that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless for the day of Christ, filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ—to the glory and praise of God. (Philippians 1 v 1 – 11)
I felt God speak to me in the following way:
“I always pray with joy because of your partnership in the gospel” – We as a church are commended for our partnership in the Gospel – God delights in the outreach we do in the community but there is more for us to do. God trusts us to break camp.
“He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion” – God will complete the work He has started in us.
“All of you share in God’s grace with me” – There is no one ministry more important than another – we all share in God’s grace.
“That your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, so that you may be able to discern” – For us to know what route to take we need to be consumed by God’s love.
In the words of Jeremiah:
This is what the Lord says:
“Stand at the crossroads and look;
ask for the ancient paths,
ask where the good way is, and walk in it,
and you will find rest for your souls. (Jeremiah 6 v 16)
The love that God has placed in our hearts will determine the way that we take.
We are putting in place a Fund Raising Strategy that will enable us to continue the journey of “Building for the Future” and raise the £3,000,000 required for a new facility on our existing site. On Wednesday as part of our Connect Newsletter we outlined our Fund Raising Strategy. If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to contact one of the leaders.
Have a great day!
