I love this illustration

A man was seated on a park bench when a little chap of about five sat down beside him and started winding what appeared to be a most prized possession – a watch. “My, what a pretty watch” remarked the man. “Does it tell you the time?”

“No sir” replied the boy; “you gotta look at it”

In the Old Testament God encouraged the people of Israel to look at and talk about His Word. He told them to think about the Word of God and let the Word of God be on their hearts – in other words central to their life. We can read about this in the following passage. Deuteronomy 6 v 4 – 9

Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates.

Let me ask you a question today – is the Word of God the foundation of your life?

Join us this Sunday as we start a new series about the Word of God

Have a great day!
