|This week we began a series based on the Bible. In our daily devotions this week I want to focus on the authority of the Bible.
As for God, his way is perfect: The Lord’s word is flawless; he shields all who take refuge in him. Psalm 18:30
All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.
2 Timothy 3:16-17
If we are to recognise the Bible as authoritative in our lives, we first need to recognise and believe that the Bible is the word of God. Paul writes to Timothy that scripture is God-breathed. The Bible is the infallible word of God himself.
But, the infallibility of God’s word does not make it a stagnant, dead, or irrelevant word. Why? Because
When God breathes, he breathes life.
In creation (Gen 2:7) when God breathes into man, he breathes life into humanity. The word of God is God-breathed and because it is God-breathed it is also life giving. It is a word of vitality, life and for now, as it was for the first recipients.
Do you believe all scripture to be God-breathed?
Do you believe all scripture to have authority in your life?
What do you do with the tricky passages ?
Spend some time in God’s word today
