|1 John 3:16-18
This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers and sisters. If anyone has material possessions and sees a brother or sister in need but has no pity on them, how can the love of God be in that person? Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth.
Yesterday, we looked at how thankfulness is a great tool in not allowing wealth to hold lordship in your life. Another great tool is generosity. By giving what God has given me, I’m saying and showing that I don’t hold it tightly… I don’t treat it as my own.
Jesus himself said: ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’”
Generosity of wealth isn’t just about giving money. Generosity of wealth extends to helping people, opening up our homes, giving away clothes, blessing people who we believe God has placed on our heart.
Each Sunday in our service we take up an offering. It’s always in the programme, its our chance to be generous with what we have but can I encourage you to put into your daily programme an opportunity to be generous.
Take some time to think and pray about how you can extend generosity through the wealth that God has given you
Have a great day
