About us / Meet the team / Graham Bridger
Born in Brentwood, Graham is married to Sue. They have two adult children and two delightful granddaughters, with their son Guy still with them at home. With no previous Christian background, Graham and Sue both came to faith on the same day in 1988 whilst reading David Watson books, although in two different parts of the world! The family joined Sawyers Church and during this time Graham suffered a ‘mind explosion' and began devouring every Christian book in sight, subsequently helping to set up the Christian Bookshop in Brentwood.
Graham was mainly influenced by the ministries of the Anglican evangelist David Watson and evangelist John Wimber, previous leader of the Vineyard churches. This resulted in him selling his business, home and cars and moving to Billericay to initially pursue the ordained ministry. After completing a course at the L.I.C.C. under John Stott and other Christian studies diplomas, he joined Steve Chalke as UK Evangelism coordinator for the Oasis Trust becoming involved with town wide missions. Graham has seen many come to Christ, through Alpha, personal witness and through his heartfelt passion for leading worship over the past 18 years. Like John Piper, Graham believes that ‘Worship is the Missing Jewel in the Crown of Evangelism'. The family have been back at Sawyers since 2006.
