About us / Meet the team / Mark Nichols
Mark admits he is currently struggling with the concept of becoming a forty something! He lives in Shenfield with lovely wife Julie and two lively boys Luke (2001) and Ben (2003). An Essex boy born in Chelmsford, he has lived in London and Surrey for over 10 years returning recently to be closer to family and work. He is in Marketing at Barclays, for small businesses. For fun he likes to ski or surf which he says he does ‘pretty badly' - an attempt to cling on to youth?? He also likes to catch up from an armchair on how Arsenal are doing.
When asked a few years ago to talk about his life at work he summarised by saying that 3 F's were most important - Faith, Family & Friends. Like most people life has brought his family challenges, but he believes that faith, family and friends have helped them through - blessings from God!
He became a Christian about 7 years ago after being prompted, he realises now, by the Lord to attend an Alpha course which followed a marriage preparation day at the Church where he and Julie married. He still feels he has ‘L' plates on but is growing and learning all the time. The family were initially attracted to worship at Sawyers by the warmth of the welcome and the people at Sawyers. He is passionate about the diversity of experience, skills and knowledge within the men folk at Sawyers Church and desires to see God move powerfully in and through their fellowship together. A favourite saying that sticks with, and challenges him often is to strive to be "more than what we do or own". He believes that ministry and faith can help us do that.
