News / March Update - The values of Sawyers Church

Antique Silver CupThe other day I was invited to Goldsmiths Hall in London the home of one of the Twelve Great Companies of the City of London. The company has been responsible for hallmarking since 1300.

As I was given a guided tour of the building there were many paintings of royalty and key historical figures over the centuries who had visited Goldsmith’s Hall. In many of the paintings Kings, Queens and Politicians were being presented with the Antique Silver Bowers Cup that was on display in the Main Hall. This cup is worth millions; in fact it is beyond worth and uninsurable. It is the most precious antique on display and hours of care, time and effort are given to its upkeep.

If we value something we will do whatever is needed to ensure it takes its rightful place.

1) To be committed to worship and a lifestyle that honours God

2) To accept include and be hospitable

3) To show love, compassion and build healthy relationships

4) To be committed to unity and learning together

5) To be generous in all that we do

6) To be authentic and distinctive

These six values of Sawyers Church are the blueprint for the sort of community we want to build.
