Sunday life / What to expect

what to expect

We gather together in Jesus name and that brings together a diversity of people in style, theology, demographics, professions and personality. We range from pre-birth-bumplets to 93-year olds! We are warm in our welcome and relationships, whole-hearted in our worship and passionate in our belief and practice that God’s Word applied is what transforms our lives. We are committed to pleasing God above all things and, in doing this, we get to be changed into what God has planned us to be individually, as households and as a church community. Our style of worship is simple, patterned as best we can after the examples and teachings of New Testament Christians.

  • Our main Sunday morning gatherings typically last about 90 minutes
  • Feel free to sit anywhere; for there are no special or assigned seats!
  • Dress-code is as you are comfortable; mostly smart casual!
  • If you feel comfortable doing so, please let the welcome team know if you’re new or visiting, so that we might have the chance to get to know you better.
  • We have worship leaders who helpfully focus our minds on God in our sung praise of God.
  • Communion is when we celebrate the complete love of God. Jesus established the practice of breaking bread and drinking the cup so Christians might regularly remember the sacrifice of His body and blood to make relationship with God possible for us. We leave to each person the decision whether to participate in this time.
  • The Offering is an expression of our thanksgiving back to God. This is the means by which all are permitted to make financial contribution to God in support of the God’s work in this place. Out of these monies all staffing, ministry support and mission giving is funded. If you are a guest you are welcome, but not expected to, make a donation.
  • The Message is when the “good news” of God’s love and Jesus’ redemptive life is proclaimed and applied to our lives today. We hope you will find it encouraging, relevant and Bible-based. At the close of most services, we offer the opportunity to respond to personal needs or the prompting of God’s Spirit through His Word.  Our prayer ministry team is available for those who would welcome individual prayer at the end of the service.
  • Leadership of God’s church is not limited to those formally recognized as Pastors, Staff, Elders and Deacons. At Sawyers Church you’ll see Christian men and women from various walks of life taking active roles such as reading Scripture, serving communion, and participating in prayers. We are committed to all people wherever possible sharing in worship in ways that are biblical, orderly and meaningful.
